Ein wunderschönes Schloss mit einem wunderschönen Schlosspark mit vielen Wasserspielen, Brunnen. Einfach toll zum Entspannen und Genießen. Enten und Schwäne sind auch zu beobachten und fühlen sich in dieser herrlichen Umgebung sehr wohl.
Der Selketalstieg führ direkt am Schloss in Ballenstedt vorbei, ein Besuch sollte man unbedingt einplanen. An einem sehr heißen Tag im August habe ich in den Klosterstuben Erfrischung und Stärkung gefunden. Das Restaurant ist im ehemaligen Speisesaal (Remter) des Benediktinerklosters gelegen, durch die dicken Mauern ist es angenehm kühl dort. Draußen auf der Terrasse spenden Sonnenschirme Schatten, von hier aus kann man gut den Fürstenweg erkennen, auf dem der Selketalstieg mich weiter nach Gernrode bringen wird. Die Wirtsleute sind sehr nett, der Service gut, das Angebot für mich als Tourenwanderer passend.
